This is the second lady bug tea set we’ve purchased for our tea-party-loving 3 year old. It’s porcelain, it’s going to break, and it’s a kids’ tea set, you’re not going to get a whole lot of “tea” out of the pot/cups; those things have been mentioned by other reviewers and they’re non-issues to me. Our daughter received her first set for her 2nd birthday and despite being made of porcelain, it held up very well considering it was played with daily by a 2 year old (and her big sister who is 2.5 years older) in our hardwood floored home for a year. When items did break, the pieces glued back together very nicely and seamlessly with super glue. A year later, we’ve only just purchased the second set to replace the items that have been glued one too many times. For the price, I’m happy to buy replacement sets as long as she requires them, she loves the set so.

I purchased this tea set as a gift for a three year old girl who loves the “Ladybug Girl” book series. I coupled it with a few books and a ladybug costume, so the gift was a hit, but I wasn’t thrilled with the tea set’s quality. A few of the letters/ladybugs appeared to be chipping off, giving it a “worn” feel. When compared with some other brightly colored and fun tin tea sets I found later, I wish I had waited and purchased them instead. The porcelain is fragile for young fingers, too. There is also another ladybug tea set that comes in a clever picnic basket with a few more pieces (mini tablecloth, napkins and cutlery), which is ideal for keeping the tiny pieces together.

I bought this tea set for my two year old daughter and my four year old boys love playing tea with her. Unfortunately, the tea set is a little too fragile for them and we have lost handles off the cups and entire pieces. The tea set is really cute and I have purchased a backup set for when they get older and can be more gentle with it.
